“Go wa gen nyo” nigyasoh (traditional name) 

My name is Dixie Doxtador, I am a Haudenosuanee woman of the Oneida Nation, Bear clan of Six Nations. 

I have been working in the Social Service sector for 36 years. Started out in the Mental Health field then moved into the VAW (Violence Against Women) and Homelessness Sector. For 18 years I was working in an Indigenous agency addressing the issues of violence and homelessness against Indigenous women in prevention and advocacy as well as Community Counselling. I do possess a Bachelor of Social Work with Honours Degree. 

Currently, I am employed as a Traditional Knowledge Holder and Relief Counsellor for a Mental Health Indigenous Youth Shelter. Presently, I am on as Board President for Sacajawea Non-Profit Indigenous Housing for the last 4 years. 

I am a mother of 1 daughter and grandmother of 5. Keeping Traditional knowledge, values and teachings forefront for holistic wellness for all, through sharing.

Ogemaha a’na’ goke ndish ni kassaz. Traditional name is Leader of Stars Hamilton ndoonjdda. Live in Hamilton Mississauga na daw. Nation is Mississauga I’m know as Joanne Webb 

Was a Hospital worker for over 30 years and was a very involved Union Activist. Retired for 7 years. I have been worker in the Community ever since. 

I hold a seat on this board and also a seat on the board for the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre. 

I also sit on both NDP Riding Associations of Hamilton Centre as well as a couple of Seniors Councils. In my share time I love to take long walks

Secretary – Alysha Johnson 

My name is Alysha Johnson, I am lower Cayuga, turtle clan from Six Nations. I belong to a large family of 7 girls and 3 boys. Myself, I have one, 11yr old son. I have worked in the Indigenous non profit sector for 9 years and I have been apart of Sacajawea Non-profit housing board of directors for 6yrs. 


Board Member – Laura Workman 

Laura is a Haudenosaunee woman. She is Turtle Clan from the Mohawk Nation and her traditional territory is Six Nations of the Grand. She was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario and has worked her entire 30 year career in the Indigenous community of Hamilton. Laura has been a board member, in various capacities, at Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing Inc. for approximately 15 years (not consecutively). She is a daughter, sister, partner, community member, colleague and fur mom to 

4. Laura’s education focussed on administrative and finance work. Her career has been exclusively administrative. Laura’s greatest reward is seeing the healing work of her family and community through acknowledging the collective history and working to continually overcome it. 


Board Member – Mary Bearfoot

My name is Mary Bearfoot, 

I have lived in Hamilton my whole life, I currently work at the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre and have been for the last 10 years. I’ve been sitting on many board in the indigenous community for the past 5 years. I am a mother of two teenagers, and am always pushing them to walk a good path and embrace their indigenous background. On my spare time I play volleyball and like to walk my dog.

Kathleen LaForme is of both Mississauga of the Credit and Mohawk of Six Nations. She has worked in an Indigenous non-profit organization for the past 21 years, building connections with Indigenous organizations and community.
